Christmas around here

“For Christ died for sins once for all, the righteous for the unrighteous, to bring you to God.”   ~ 1 Peter 3:18

Our house is teeming with Christmas, and it is Mark and I’s favorite season.  God was so good to bring us together for we were both raised in homes that love Christmas and love decorating for it.  While my parents were never avid Sunday church goers (I am not sure Mark’s were either), Christmas was something that they cherished.

The other day as we were decorating our Christmas tree, I came across a bulb my dad had made when I was young.  Holding the bulb in my hand brought back memories of how much he truly loved Christmas.  From the lights he decorated the outside of our house with, to the presents he bought, to the music and good food, he always seemed so excited!   When we were in our teens, their house was always bubbling with activity and all were welcome.  He was often giddy like a young child, and I am forever grateful that my mom and him shared with us their love of Christmas…that their love passed on to us.  That is my goal this Christmas…to cling to those memories and find the joy in the midst of missing my dad so much.

In our house with Christmas comes Christmas music!  We play it often and find that it just lifts the spirits and lightens the air.  We listen to Karen Carpentar, Vince Gill, Nate King Cole, Third Day, Harry Connick Jr, Mercy Me and so on.  Right now, Mark has put together a great Christian Christmas music collection on Pandora and I am thoroughly enjoying it!  As a song touches my heart, I hope to share it.  Here is one that I find helps me to stay focused on the wonderful gift I have been given…
